Part of our work is to make polite bigotry socially unacceptable.
We must risk discomfort and decorum to confront bias in the moment, as we encounter it.
We must put friendships on the line, and family on notice. We must hold each other accountable, and not look the other way.
Because the stakes are just too high. And we gay men learned long ago that "Silence = Death."
